Pet Works and staff are insured & bonded through the Business Insurers of the Carolinas.

Mileage charges may be added for trips exceeding 15 miles from the trainer’s home.

Private Obedience Lessons
Private training allows us to tailor your dog's training specifically to your needs, and allows us to train in the environment that your dog is most comfortable in – your home and neighborhood!

This is a basic pet manners program intended for the whole family and the commands taught will be adjusted to meet your needs. Commands may include: sit, down, stay, come, wait, polite walking, leave-it, off, polite greetings (no jumping) & door manners, watch me, how to teach tricks like paw and roll-over, and how to use each of these commands in real life situations. Please note that certain behavior problems like aggression and separation anxiety are addressed in our Canine Behavior Counseling Program (see below).

Six Session Program: $210
Single Consultation (1 hour): $40

Canine Behavior Counseling
For problems above and beyond basic obedience training, an experienced behavior counselor will visit your home to meet with you and your dog to evaluate the situation. Included in this evaluation is a frank discussion on what is involved in dealing with the problem, factors that will influence success and progress, and, if appropriate, a behavior modification program specifically tailored for your situation and your dog's needs. All training and modification methods are based on principles of positive reinforcement and conscientious management.

Initial Consultation (2 hours): $75
Follow-Up Visits: $40
Aggression & Separation Anxiety Follow-Ups: $65
Other Issues: $40
All cases involving aggression require at least one follow-up visit.

Feline Behavior Counseling
We can help you with your cat’s problem behaviors such as aggression, inappropriate elimination, spraying or marking, scratching, introduction to a new animal or human, and more. An experienced behavior counselor will visit your home to meet with you and your cat, conduct a detailed case history, and provide you with a behavior modification program to help you successfully eliminate the problem behavior. Great emphasis is placed on providing you with a strong foundation and understanding of feline behavior to ensure that you are better able to communicate with your cat.

Initial Consultation (1 ½ - 2 hours): $75
Follow-Up Visits: $40

All cases involving aggression require at least one follow-up visit.

Walk & Train
A combination of daily dog walking/exercise and obedience for the busy family. We walk and train your dog while you're away, then teach you how to have them obey you!

The program includes an initial consultation session with trainer, family & dog, mid-day exercise & training sessions with just the trainer & dog, progress reports after each training session, and "transfer lessons" to teach the family what they need to know to command the same obedience from the dog that the trainer does.

Initial Consultation: (90 minutes) $40

Daily Exercise & Training Sessions: (45 minutes) $30 plus 8.75% tax

Follow-Up Transfer Lessons: (1 hour) $40

We recommend 3 or 4 sessions per week for 6 weeks, and at least two transfer lessons for most obedience issues.

Pre-Adoption Counseling & Matching
Whether adopting from a breeder or a shelter, Pet Works can help you choose just the right dog for your family! We will discuss your situation, your needs, and your requirements with you before the search, accompany you to the breeder or shelter to choose and evaluate pets you are interested in (including dog-dog introductions), and advise you on how to integrate your new pet into your family.

Basic Service: $150.

For trips out of the immediate Buffalo area to meet with prospective pets, an additional charge of $75 for the day will be required, in addition to mileage charges that may apply if the location of your home, breeder or shelter exceeds 15 miles from the trainer’s home.
