What: Where: Cost: To ensure lots of personal attention, our class size is limited to 8 dogs. This great program uses the skills you and your dog have learned in basic obedience class to start you out right in the exciting and fun sport of agility, the fastest growing dog sport in the world! Agility is one part obedience, one part relationship, and one part sheer adrenalin rush! This class will help you solidify your dog’s basic obedience skills, apply them to agility, and enhance your great relationship with your dog by using positive reinforcement training methods. Building this foundation will help you achieve great success, right from the start, when you begin training on the agility equipment and learning how to handle your dog on course. Although there is no minimum age requirement for this class, your dog should have completed at least one basic obedience course or it’s equivalent before attending JumpStart. Solid skills should include sit, down, stay for at least 30 seconds, a reliable recall, an attention command, and reasonably polite walking. Dogs who display aggressive behavior towards people or other dogs cannot be accepted into this class– please call if you are unsure about your dog’s ability to participate in this program. The first class is an Information session and is for "humans only," so please leave your dog home, but do bring your proof of vaccinations. At this class we will answer many of your questions and prepare you for bringing your dog to class. Please note: This class is required prior to enrollment in Starter Agility classes at the Canine Sports Complex, unless Cynthia Kean waives the requirement after a pre-class evaluation.
